I have always had strong legs, but have been noticing a real weakness in my upper leg muscles. I used to do a lot of horseback riding and found it easy to use my legs to ride bareback or with a saddle. I am 5 1 and have short legs and a longer torso. I have taken statins since I was about 50. Would this have anything to do with my muscle weakness? It is even difficult for me to get into our truck.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have weakness in the thigh muscles . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like stroke , sciatica , pinching or compression of the nerves , myasthenia gravis or multiple sclerosis . Neuropathy can also be one of the reasons . I would suggest you to consult orthopedc surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or blood test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe nerve supplement , muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory along with physical therapy of legs and back . For now apply warm compresses to thigh do light exercises like stretching exercises , gentle massage with flax seed oil will be helpful , and eat healthy . Drink glass of hot milk with half spoon turmeric power in it daily .
