What Causes Weakness On The Left Side Of The Neck?

80 year old white male, history of ride side stroke 9 years ago-had full recovery. 6 months ago started showing symptoms of left side weakness, esp. neck weakness. has had mri brain and head and neck. no tumors or stroke found-no pinched nerves in neck found. he also has dysphagia. blood work came back great. no thyroid issues, kidney function great. moved to the pacific coast year and half ago and developed allergies-dr states most likely mold. he also started having a cough shortly after moving to coast. could any of above symptoms have anything to do with mold.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Detailed history helps in diagnosis but mold allergy can not really cause such weakness or so. Since there is a known history of stroke and now there is weakness on the left side of neck along with dysphagia the most probable cause is surely nerve involvement for sure.
Get an opinion of a Neurologist for proper evaluation of cranial nerve along with routine examination to get a proper cause and get treated.
Asthenia with 80 years of age may be an added reason, go for Physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
