What Causes Weakness On Thumb?

Hi, I have a question, in the past few days i have felt my Left thumb go weaker. I can't pinch to hold anything heavy because i drop it and once in a while i feel like my whole left arm go weak but then i regain my strength. What could i have that is causing this?
