What Causes Weight Gain Along With Urinary Incontinence?

I have recently (in about a month) gained about 12-13 pounds. I haven t been eating as healthy as I could, but I wouldn t say I over eat. In the past week, I ve noticed that I ve been peeing a lot! I went from peeing maybe 2-4 times a day to peeing 7-15 times a day. I m only 23, about 5 6, and last I checked I was up to 161.5 pounds. Should I be concerned??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The urinary incontinence can be related to the weight gain. Being overweight puts pressure on the bladder and contributes to urge incontinence. I suggest to do a urine test to exclude the possibility of an urinary tract infection which should be treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
