What Causes Weight Gain And Fatigue In The Elderly?
Hi. My father has called me recently complaining about how he s been gaining weight quickly. He can t seem to fit into his pants anymore. He also has told me that two bites into his meal he feel stuffed in bloated. He also complains of fatigue. He doesn t have the best diet but he also has health issues. He s had two heart attacks and experienced liver damage due to all of the medications. But this was years ago… Any idea what this might be?
Bloating can cause a feeling of fullness, it can be due to different possible causes such as : (1) constipation (2) reflux (3) side effect of medication (4) lactose intolerance (5)food intolerance (6)use of gas producing foods such as carbonated drinks, cabbage, cauliflower, beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, turnips, prunes (7) ibs
If it continues, he would need to be reviewed by his doctor. This would include physical examination and possibly imaging of the abdomen along with blood tests such as complete blood count, ESR.
I hope this helps
