What Causes Weight Gain And Low Testosterone Levels After Menopause?

Haven t had a period for 3 years however hormones say I m not having early menopause. Mum of 4 with no previous problems until I stopped breastfeeding after last daughter at 13months. Have weight gain but feel is pituitary rather than gynaecology as scans say I m fine in that area. Bloods say low testosterone also. I have been prescribed is this Utovlan 1 x 3 tabs daily for 25days, Break for 3 days start again for 25 then repeat month 3.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the weight gain and low testosterone levels do indicate obesity related secondary changes over the hypothalamus pituitary ovarian axis. Secondary, insulin resistance with multiple endocrine abnormalities do play vital role in this instance. The source of testosterone in female is ovary and its not functioning at its best, the second source is that of adrenal gland.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
