Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Weight Gain And Tendonitis While On Arimidex For Breast Cancer?
After being on Arimadex for breast cancer since 2009, can it start to cause side affects even though I had none to begin with. Tendonitis, trigger finger, intermitten sour throat, and steady weight gain (not due to increase calories). These are not the usual complaints, but have become increasingly present in my case.
Based on the history you have shared, these side effects can be due to the drug however to keep tumor relapse prevention it's unavoidable to use so these complications should be managed individually with tindintitis being most troubling should be treated with analgesics and hot compression.
Likewise, others to be managed if tolerable but if worsened may be temporarily stopping the drug can be considered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
