What Causes Weight Gain In A Child After Attaining Puberty?
My 11 year old daughter, who has not started her period, but I do suspect is very close, has started to have the worst smelling hair! It smells like a perm or ammonia. She has grown 6 inches in 12 months and gained 35 lbs, which is concerning to me. But our ped is sure it s just due to diet. I am not so sure. What are your thoughts? Thank you!!
If underlying hormone disturbances as excess androgen is ruled out, a heavy protein intake can be part of such presentation. If the condition persists over a period of 4-5 months, her metabolic and endocrine work up is best recommended ahead to get best cure possible.
