What Causes Weight Gain In Abdominal Area?

I am female, 48 years old and have gained about 20 lbs over last 2 years all in my stomach and abdomen area. I have little appetite; and I eat mostly healthy and I do not overeat. I have suffered depression most of my adult life; and I have taken 300 mg Wellbutrin and 20 mg celexa daily over past 4 years. My MD prescribed 20 mg Crestor over last 4 months which gives me muscle aches. I am concerned about health of my pancreas and liver. Should I request a CT scan to see if there are concerns I need to address? OR what would be most logical firs step? Thank you - Laura

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The intake of Celexa (Citalopram) over a period of time is associated with weight gain in terms of excess fat deposition at tummy area with increased fat pads. Against to this, Wellbutrin (Bupropion) is associated with weight loss and Crestor (Rosuvastatin) is usually responsible for muscle cramps, headache, joint pain, insomnia and not that of weight changes. Kindly discuss the dosage rescheduling with your doctor during next follow up scheduled appointment. Till that time, limit the intake of oily stuffs with high cholesterol content and involve in regular aerobics for best weight control.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
