What Causes Weight Gain Post Diltiazem Withdrawal?

I was taking Diltiazem for high blood pressure when my gynocologist added spironolactone to balance out my hormones. When I learned that spironolactone was also a medication that lowers high blood pressure, I decided to stop taking the diltiazem to see if I could get by on just the spironolactone. That has worked well and my blood pressure is at a steady 118 over 75 (even better than with the diltiazem). My problem is that since stopping diltiazem I have experienced a steep weight gain. I have gained about 10 pounds in 2 months. I ve been trying to work out more but it seems like I am just putting on even more weight. Is this normal? I have not changed my diet.
