Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Dr., I ve been on Myrbetriq for 4 weeks now and have gained about 7-8 lbs but I m not showing this as one of the side effects, do you have any other comments about this? I have had headaches that are new with a slight increase in BP, but I wanted to give it at least 8 weeks to take effect, is that to long to wait?
Myrbetriq is a beta-3 adrenergic agonist which is used to treat overactive bladder. This medicine reduces the amount of bathroom visits. It may also help to control wetting accidents. It may be used alone and at other times it may be given with other treatments. Side effects of Myrbetriq are increased blood pressure, severe headache, dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, weight gain, bladder pain etc.
These side effects may go away while getting treated as your body gets adjusted to the medicine. But if these side effect its persist for long or bother you, then you should consult with your prescribing physician. Regular healthy balanced diet and daily exercise may help to prevent weight gain. Monitor your blood pressure regularly. Because, this medication is contraindicated for use in patients with severe uncontrolled HTN which can cause severe headache.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
