General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Fish oil can be obtained from eating fish or by taking supplements. Fish oil is relatively safe for most people when taken by mouth in low doses (3 grams or less per day).
However, there are certain safety concerns when it is taken in high doses (more than 3 grams per day).
Fish oil can cause side effects like belching, bad breath, heartburn, nausea, loose stools, rash and nosebleeds.
Consumption of Vitamin D or fish oils is not known to be associated with weight gain. It might be due to certain other cause, which needs to be investigated and treated.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
