What Causes Weight Gain While Suffering From Depression?
Hi. My husband currently suffers from depression and after 12 years on Zoloft had completely stopped his medication 4 months ago. He has been able to cope with his depression less and less each day. Last week he got a script to start taking Prozac and is also taking valium. I have just discovered that he is also taking duramine as he feels he has gained weight due to the depression. His moods are irratic and becoming worse but no matter my concerns his is just telling me the doctor has prescribed him the meds so it is safe. Should these medications be used together under any circumstances? ???

Prozac, Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors used in depression, etc. Duramine interacts with Prozac metabolism which may increase the serotonin levels. So, stop Duramine and plan balanced diet for weight loss.
