What Causes Weight Loss In A New Born Premature Baby?
Hi, My sister delivered a baby boy on 19th June. He is a premature baby born at 30th week. He is at home now almost after 25 days of stay in a hospital. He is fine although he is not taking very less feed.because of which his weight is reducing. His birth weight was 1.3 kg . He was discharged at 1.7kg but it is reducing now please suggest as everyone is feeling very nervous.
Hello thank you for writing us here. Well the baby has very low weight and should be kept under observation. Make sure he has his milk in every 3 hours. And also the doctors might give supplements accordingly. But the most important thing to be taken care of is the diet and nourishment. Never let the baby be hungry okay because the weight is critically low. Ideally, the baby should have been kept under observation. You must consult a pediatric doctor for better management. God bless you, the little baby and your family.
Best regards, Dr Gunjan
