Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 49 years old female I have lost a lot of weight in my torso area. My ribs show and I understand this can be from smoking. I smoke about a pack a day. I weigh between 115- 122. I keep most of my weight in my legs and behind but I lost some in my bottom too probably from my new job requires a lot of bending and reaching to file papers all day.
* As per my clinical experience, the work pattern of lot bending and reaching to file papers do not pause any of the weight loss in torso for sure.
* The possibility of central obesity with tummy enlargemet and wasting of chest and buttocks, may be part of underlying metabolic derangements as HIV endocrinopathy, steroid consumption or others.
* Kindly consult your primary care for best initial evaluation on clinical grounds, based upon which you will be asked to undertake various lab tests, x-ray chest as well as spine or pelvis for best possible evaluation and guidance accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
