What Causes Weight Loss, Muscle Weakness And Fatigue In A 51-year-old?

My husband who will be 52 in June has been losing weight, has muscle weakness and fatigue. He had a colonoscopy and endoscopy last June and the results were fine. His blood pressure was normal and blood work came back fine as well. He works construction as a concrete cutter. He also had a TBI back in 2003. I think it maybe low testosterone? Your thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Low testosterone is a possible cause of his symptoms and this can be assessed by a blood test done by his doctor. Losing weight unintentionally can be a concern but if his blood were normal and included inflammatory markers such as ESR or CRP, then it is not likely due to a serious condition as cancer. These markers detect inflammation in the body and go up with any evidence of inflammation- cancer, infection, allergies, autoimmune diseases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
