What Causes Welts On Arms, Legs And Buttocks?

for the last four months I break out in welts on my body (arms, legs, butt,). I have tried to eliminate one at a time things that could be the cause. They come quickly and disappear as quickly too. The look like 3-4 inches long often a series of them next to each other and they itch. I place Benadryl cream on them and that seems to help. I am suspicious that caffeine is the culprit.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It sems you re allergic to something. May be coffee as you suspect (in that case stop taking it.

In addition to Benidril cream, you can add anti allergic Tab Cetrizine, over the counter, one pill at bed time for 5-7 days. My be ycle of allrgen rection is broken & you are free from symptoms.

If it recurs, you should get an allergy screening test done & have expert opinion of an allergy specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
