What Causes Welts Throughout The Body In A Child?

My daughter took my grandson, age 7 to his pediatrician because he developed welts all over his body. This has been going on for two months non stop. His doctor said he s fine and to see an allergist. The welts are sometimes itchy and go away with Benadryl. Should we still be concerned since its been going on for so long?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction. I suggest you use antihistamines daily such as Benadryl daily.

I also recommend using steroid lotion for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
