What Causes Wet Cough With Clear Phlegm, Acid Reflux And Esophageal Spasms?

Hello, I have wet cough acompanied with clear phlem,mucous for months, been under care of gastrologist for sever acid reflux,I was told spinckter was allowing acid, bio causing cough, no change, also have esophageal spasms He don t know what s wrong?

Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case, but generally, esophageal reflux causes spasm and cough. It often causes further lung reactions including mucous production. There are many treatments for it. To begin with elevating the head of the bed. Not eating or drinking for at least 2 hrs prior to bedtime. Medications can be helpful in lowering the amount of acid, or perhaps better improving the tone of the gastrointestinal tract to lower reflux. Metoclopramide is useful for that.
