What Causes Wheezing And Breathlessness After Removal Of Wisdom Tooth?

Yesterday afternoon I got my top two wisdom teeth pulled. The procedure went well and I have been following all aftercare instructions minus having a had time not spitting. Today I am experiencing a lot of wheezing and shortness of breath. I am a smoker but have been able to not smoke since my procedure. Is it ok to use my albuterol inhaler? Is it normal to have breathing problems after wisdom teeth extraction?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query .The symptoms you mention in query usual don't happen after wisdom tooth extraction . The probable cause of difficult breathing swelling in throat . sometimes debris detach from the tooth or bone during the procedure contain bacteria stuck into the throat and cause infection which leads to swelling of throat.

Sometimes swelling of lymph nodes occur due dry socket , But we can't take this case as one of the possibility because dry socket develop 2-3 days after extraction. You should use inhaler under expert advice.

I would suggest to do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day .and consult doctor without any delay for proper examination .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
