What Causes Wheezing And Coughing While Treating Asthma?

I am an asthma patient and currently in Denver. I am taking my regular medication eg seretide accuhaler 500cg, Abphylline SR 200mg with Montek LC when required. For last one week I am experiencing wheezing and coughing from time to time. My doctor in India use to prescribe a dosage of predinisolone starting with 30 to 40mg for three days then 20mg for next three days then 10 mg and finally 5 mg. Could you please advise if I should supplement my existing regular medication with a dose of predinisolone? Or would you suggest something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

During worsening episodes of asthma, it is advisable to have a short tapering course of steroids. Doctor is right in doing so and please continue prednisolone as advised for an early relief.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
