I have been having a whistling in my right ear for the past two weeks, I am always stuffed up, and a few time i felt clear, but the whistle remains, can sleep anymore, been to ent and she did not give me any medication, she said my ears looked find, and suggested I have a hearing test. what to do in the mean time?
Noted your history about having whistling in right ear for 2 weeks, ENT surgeon told about getting hearing test. The real organ of hearing called cochlea is situated in inner ear. The inflammation of this organ by any inflammation, infection will cause tinnitus that is extraneous sound that is not actually present. Usually this is self limiting but may take a long time or may not stop at all if the acoustic injury is more. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult an ENT Surgeon. Get Audiometry. CT+MRI that is combo-study. All these will give an idea for the cause and thus allow a proper management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
