What Causes White And Thick Vaginal Discharge While On Diflucan?
I took a 150mg dose of generic Diflucan about two 1/2 hours ago and have noticed thick white discharge literally running out of my vagina. I am also 34 1/2 weeks pregnant. Is the increase in discharge just a side effect of the Diflucan or could it be something else altogether?
Hello dear Understand your concern Thick vaginal discharge may be due to candidiasis or bacterial infection/ bacterial vaginosis (mixed infection). Never take self medicine like flucanazole for vaginal infection. It does not cause white and thick vaginal discharge as a side effects. For better treatment consult the gynecologist and the following tests: gram stain, KOH preparation, hanging drop preparation, swab test, DNA probe test, NAAT, culture and drug sensitivity etc. After diagnosis take proper treatment. Non albican candidiasis may require more intensive treatment. Drink plenty of fluids, maintain pelvic hygiene. hope this helps you Best regard Dr. Sagar
