hello my name is luke im 17 and for the past 2-3 days i have had pain associated with swallowing. the pain is located in the back of my throat on the right side. and this morning i took a flashlight in front of a mirror and noticed small white areas on my throat.
I can understand your concern. It seems that you are suffering from tonsillitis, infection and inflammation of the tonsils on the right side.
I would advise you to start with the antibiotics. You should take Azithromycin 500 mg (Azee 500) once a day for 3 days. You can combine painkiller such as Acetaminophen 500 m or Ibuprofen 400 mg up to thrice a day if needed for pain. You can also do warm salt water gargles to heal the tonsils and decrease the swelling faster.
If the pain and discomfort during swallowing along with white spots on the tonsils do not disappear after 3 days, then you should see an ENT specialist for the examination of the throat and taking throat culture.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
