What Causes White Blood Cells In My Urine?

I went to see my dr and she said I have quite a bit of white blood cells in my urine. I asked what that meant she said I have an infection yet she sent me home with no perscription but said she will get back to me with my culture result and if she doesn't call me call her. What should I do about the infection in my body over the weekend?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. She is right that the cells in your urine are suggesting a urinary tract infection. But these infections are hard to treat and require longer courses of antibiotics than other infections. Therefore it is always better to wait for the culture report before starting therapy. That way the antibiotics wil be guided to the specific infection or infectious agent as suggested by the report. I would advise you to wait for the culture report and then take a two to three weeks course of antibiotics to treat your infection. Take care and feel free to contact again. Dr Rishi.
