What Causes White Coating On Tongue With Red Bumps?
Im a 26 yr old male an got in habit of sleeping with chewing tobacco in my mouth. It was to help me go to sleep. One morning I woke up with white tongue an for past month I still got white tongue that has a few red spots. I have slowed way down on dipping for the past two days an was wondering do you think iit will go away if I stop dipping or need see dr. There no bumps or anything.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the most common cause for a white coating over the tongue seems to be due to yeast infection known as Candidiasis or oral thrush.. Few red spots seems to be due to inflammation of the tongue papillae that occurs due to infection only.. But to confirm the diagnosis you need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of the scraping from the tongue coating can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. In case of thrush, you can be advised to use antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin mouthwash gargles.. You can also suck Clotrimazole lozenges.. You can take more of probiotics like Yoghurt and garlic in diet.. As far as dipping tobacco is concerned, you should completely avoid using it as it is can lead to oral cancer..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
