What Causes White Colored Coating On Tongue Along With Irritated Papillae?
The papillae on both sides of my tongue and irritated and appear to be white. It looks like a bunch of little white dot and it extended from a little bit past the middle to the tip of my tongue. I was just wondering if It will go away on its own or if I need to do anything. It s very painful to eat and swallow. Thanks for your help

Hi, I understand your concern. *The white coloured coating on your tongue causing irritation of tongue papillae &painful eating /swallowing is due to oral thrush. Oral thrush is a candida infection. Normally small amount of candia are present in mouth cavity, but theu are kept in control by other use ful bacterias in GI tract (lactobascilli).When these bacteria are damaged due to - Bad oral hygiene/ illness/ taking drugs like antibiotics, oral contraceptives,steroids/ uncontrolled diabetes / dry mouth/ smoking. *This condition needs treatment. after diagnosing , a long course of anti fungal drugs are given . The drugs can be in lozenges/syrups/tablets / mouth paintsform. Please visit a dentist for specific advise.He may also advise you further check ups to exclude spread of infection in other parts of body. Thrush needs prevention by keeping good oral hygiene, quitting smoking,taking regular oral check ups. Thanks.
