What Causes White Discharge Before Periods?

I have a white like discharge. It does not smell bad but it is a distinct smell. It looks like clumps of wet tissue when I insert my finger and pull it out. It is really thick. Whats happening do I need medical attention. This happens often. I some what feelit happens before menstruation.
