What Causes White Dry Patches Around The Eyebrows And Sides Of The Nose?

My 18yr old son has been having these white dry patches along his hair line and sometimes in the eyebrow area also along the sides of his nose. Pretty much all over his face and in his hair at times. He has been using creams out of the store and has seen his PCP which gave him a script for medicated shampoo. It clears up but then it will come back. He is getting tired of his face breaking out, what should he try?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms and signs are typical of a condition called seborrhoea. It is kind of superficial fungal infection. As a line management he can try Clotrimazole ointment for local applications.

He might be harboring the infection in the scalp also so ketoconazole shampoo (anti-fungal shampoo) have to be used on alternate days. If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
