What Causes White Looking And Swollen Tonsils?

Hi, I went into the doctor yesterday and tested negative for tonsillitis. She still prescribed a ten day dose of penicillin. I still have to take tylenol 24/7 to keep the fever under control. Today I looked at my tonsils and they are still extremely swollen and have now turned completely white. They don t look like the white spots I have had before with tonsillitis. Should I go get checked out again??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to tonsillitis which is an infection of the tonsils.
You have already taken the antibiotics to treat the infection, so there is no need for a second checkup.
I recommend to continue the antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor and take Tylenol to reduce the inflammation.
I also suggest to rest and drink liquids.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
