What Causes White Patches On Face After Applying Face Pack?

I had applied face pack on my face and neck as well, I applied that face pack more than enough. 3 times in consecutive days in a week and next week again 1 time and again next week 1 time and again next week 1 time. Total in a month 6 times. As soon as I washed my face pack and went to sleep, and I woke up after 3-5 Hrs, It was disastrous and I was terrified to see myself in the mirror. I seen white patches on my neck and under the eye s. After that I took some anti allergenic pills from General Physician and he asked to seek a Dermatologist. After getting the pills My skins inflammation was settled down, but terrible white patches were there. So after the 50 days of incident, I visited the dermatologist, He seen my skin and without doing any other test he declared that, I had Vitiligo, I saw stunned and was thinking What I have done to myself. So he prescribed me the medicine and told me trust me you will be all right. My question is 1. How come I can developed the vitiligo in just 5 hrs, since I dnt ve any genetic history and I am absolutely fit person and just 23 yrs old. 2. Is that possible that doctor might have misdiagnosed the things, coz he didnt do any test for diagnosis? 3. My white patches dosen t look look vitiligo patches, they just look like 2 shades lighter than my skin tone? 4. I ve seen my patched are healing itself automatically, even I didnt applied nything yet on those. 5. Shall I seek 2nd opinion from any other dermatologist? 6. The prescription he provided is as below, as if now I just started Betnesol Tablet and I am scared to use rest of the steroids. Tab Betnesol forte 1mg (50 Nos) for 30 days Tab antoxid (30 Nos) for 30 days Momate Cream Topgraf ointment.

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I suggest a possibility of Pityriasis alba rather than vitiligo. Therefore I suggest you to take a second opinion.
I would like to assure you that Pityriasis Alba is "not a serious illness" at all. It is common in the general population.
The patches are more common on dry skin.
Using a face pack too often definitely seems to have exacerbated the dryness of skin and therefore making these patches manifest.
Pityriasis alba patches are usually light colored (lighter than the surrounding skin but not depigmented unlike in vitiligo); they can be somewhat scaly as well, the light color being actually due to localized dryness and post-inflammatory hypopigmentation.
I usually recommend using a good moisturizer, twice daily.
You can also use an OTC topical steroid e.g 1% Hydrocortisone twice daily for the patches, over and above the moisturizer. That should make the patches fade away in 2-3 weeks.

Regards
