I have thick white scabs on my scalp they are like kebthey are sewn into my head, if i pick at them it leaks smelly clear fluid which drys and causes my hair to stick together asif ive got sauce in it. Its hard to get off and have tried many shampoos, it doesnt itch or bleed, and theres no spots so what is it. Ive had eczema all my life but is only on my ears now, never seen anything like it so what is it? Please help me treat it?
Seborrheic dermatitis refers to inflammation and irritation of skin caused by excess oil and sebum production. This in turn can irritate the scalp and cause flakes or bumps along with itchy scalp. Ketoconazole and Pyrithione Zinc containing shampoo or lotion should be used to wash hair every other day after soaking the hair for 5 minutes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
