Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 7 month old has a spot on the tip of her tongue (towards the left side). It slightly white but based on the research I ve done it doesn t appear to be thrush. It looks kind of raw. She is breastfed, won t take a pacifier or a bottle. Once she is asleep at I can hear her suck on her tongue.
As per your query white spots on tip of tongue of your baby is because of oral candidiasis. Initially it looks raw but progressively it started becoming smooth coating on tongue.
I would suggest you to take clean cloth dipped in cold water and rub it around gums of your child so as to maintain cleanliness. Don't let debris accumulated in area around tongue. Apply anti-fungal cream on your breasts as well so as to avoid spread of infection to you. Oral thrush is very common in infants because of poor immune system in them.
Symptoms will resolve after proper maintenance of oral hygiene and you should take diet rich in multivitamins. If symptoms keeps on persisting even after 1 week visit dermatologist once .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
