Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes White Spots On The Toenails And Joint Pain?
I am a black female, age 46; In the last 2 months, I have noticed my toenails have white splotches on them; in the past 2 weeks, every joint hurts, especially my hips, lower back and shoulders which have a burning pain; my fingers and ankles are stiff with my fingers swelling; this is especially prevalent in the morning
Causes of white spots on toenails are injury, fungal infection or mineral deficiency, heart or kidney disease, psoriasis or arsenic poisoning etc.
Polyarthralgia may be due to viral fever or bacterial infection. If it is chronic pain then maybe the possibility of rheumatoid arthritis, crystal-induced arthritis or connective tissue disorders etc.
Please consult your rheumatologist/orthopedician, they will examine with RA factor, serum uric acid, ESR and CRP then treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
