What Causes White Vaginal Discharge?

Hi Doctor. I am 18 years old, weigh 125 pounds and I am 5'3'. Over the past couple of days, I am getting a lot of white discharge. Today in particular, I noticed a long thick string of white discharge. I am sexually active, and have had a bacterial infection before. What do you think?
