What Causes Whooshing Sound In Ear While Lying Down?

Hi, I ve been experiencing these symptoms for a while. I hear a whooshing noise in one of my ears. It gets worse when I lay down. When I work out, that same ear pops a lot, like it would on an airplane. Sometimes I ll also hear a beat in that ear. I ve also had some balance problems and have had 2 bouts of vertigo in the past 2 years. What might this be? Also, it s probably unrelated, but I also get frequent headaches, but I ve always assumed this was from stress. Thank you!

Welcome in HCM.

I understand your concern, as you said about pooping your ear along with whooshing and vertigo, this all indicates that you are having otitis media along with Labyrinthitis.

your this problem needs a thorough examination of ear along with some investigations like-

1- Pure tone audiometry.

2- Impedance audiometry.

3- C.T.scan of ear.

4- Vestibular function test.

By co-relation of inferences of investigations with findings of clinical examination one may reach to correct diagnosis. once the diagnosis is made treatment may be plan accordingly.
