What Causes Wrinkly Fingers In Thyroid Patient?

I was taking 0.025mg synthroid for a few years, having my blood checked every three months and there was never a problem. For the past 6 months i have been out of my country and only taking half of my synthroid daily and have not had thyroid levels checked for same amount of time. In the past week and a half I have noticed my fingertips are wrinkly with loss of volume in some of the fingers. They get a little better but then wrinkly again. What is this caused from?

Hello,

The dose of levothyroxine you are taking is very low. 25 mcg is the lowest suggested dose.

The symptoms you described may be due to the hypothyroidism.

Get back to the previous dose and wait for the improvement.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mirjeta Guni,
