What Causes Wrist Fracture Swelling Despite A Cast?

I broke my wrist last week. dr put cast on right away. was wondering if that was wrong as I feel tremendous swelling in one area that at times feels like I have to rip it off. dr re-checked it and said it was not to tight. no appearance of lack of circulation. thanks. ggm
