What Causes Wrist Pain With Fingers Swelling?

My wrist has started hurting a lot these last few days and has been getting worse and worse. It hurts when i move it as well and my fingers have swollen slightly. At the moment my mum but a bandage on it for support. I broke this wrist once before way back in 2001 and i hope that its nothing to do with that. If you can, can you please tell me whether its to do with the old break or something else. thanks.
