What Causes Yellow Bruising On The Thighs After An Injury?

I fell last Thurs on my stairs missing the last 3 steps. I have a huge bruise on my right thigh. Inner part is a pale yellow. No pain when walking only if I bump it. The part I hit is now pale yellow with very small broken blood vessels running through. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern. Hematoma, spillage of blood from broken vessels changes color as it heals, depending on the amount of blood spilled in the surrounding tissues. The more blood the blacker the hematoma, the longer it takes to heal.
It seems you didn't have a big injury so the healing was faster and the yellow color, which is the last stage of hematoma healing appeared faster.

I hope this helps.
Wishing you all the best
