What Causes Yellow Bump On The Shoulder After A Sunburn?

Hi, I ve just recently been swimming in the ocean in the last few days in Fiji. Lots of sun. I sprayed sunscreen all over my body yet still received a very bad sunburn to my whole back and shoulders. Just recently I ve noticed a small yellow bump on my shoulder that is hard and dry. It doesn t hurt it s just there. What is it?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of yellow bump on the shoulder after a sunburn which occurs after severe sunburn in which blisters and roughness of skin don't pop up immediately but appears after sometime. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to drink plenty of water and fluids. Apply cold compresses to affected area and cover the area to prevent the further damage of the skin. You should apply broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF15 on affected area. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit dermatologist once and get complete examination done and start treatment after proper prescription.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
