What Causes Yellow Bumps At The Back Of The Throat While Having A Sinus Infection?
Is it normal to have yellow bumps in the back of my throat with a cold? I work at a daycare & we ve had strep & the flu going around. I went to Dr Thursday, I was told that I have a cold. I ve had sinus stuff going on since last Sunday. I do have a lot of drainage & have been coughing a lot. It seems as though I ve been having a dry cough for the last couple of days. Today I noticed that I have yellow bumps in the back of my throat. Is this normal for the cold? O, they tested me Thursday for strep and it was negative and I have no tonsils by the way. On a side note, I went to Dr again yesterday for pink eye.
Yellow bumps at the back of throat are probably due to bacterial infection only and in your case it can be due to viral infection with superseded or secondary bacterial infection.
So, my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin along with anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can be advised.
Start doing warm saline gargles and antiseptic mouthwash gargles. You can also suck throat lozenges and drink plenty of warm water.
For excessive drainage, take a combination of antihistamine drug like Levocetirizine and decongestant like Phenylephrine. Take steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
