What Causes Yellow Colored Watery Stool With Mucus In A Baby?

Hi doctor My baby is in her 7th month now. Have started cerelac stage 1 wheat apple since yesterday. Had given one scoop yesterday and one today. Have noticed yellow watery stool with chilli seed like texture and good amount of mucus in it. Is there a reason to worry? What should be done in this case?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, you have started weaning process. at this time noticing loose stools, or constipation is common.
if i were your treating doctor, Then i would advise
1) Need not panic, introducing new food other than breast milk, usually cause loose stools initially.
2) This happens due to change in gut flora and body's adaption to new food.
3) Introduce one food at a time, with small amount to start with.
4) breast feeding should be continued despite of weaning.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
