What Causes Yellow Discharge During Pregnancy?

I am just over 40 weeks pregnant and for the last couple of days I have noticed that my discharge has become a lot thicker and more yellow in colour. I am also experiencing a lot of pain in the left handside of my groin, leg and back. Can you advise if all is normal? Thanks

Hallow Mumma to be,

You have attained full term of your pregnancy and are due for delivery any day.

Just before the labour pains start, the mouth of the uterus (cervix) starts opening and merging in the uterine cavity. Due to this, the mucous plug in the cervix starts getting dislodged and comes out. Many a times it is blood stained. This is the discharge you are probably observing.

As the cervix is getting stretched, its pain is referred to and felt at low back ache. The uterine painful contractions are felt in the groin and the lower abdomen.

Madam, I feel, it is all normal and you are heading for the labour pains fast. Be prepared to welcome your baby and feed him/her on the breast within first half and hour of the birth.

Wish you a happy and comfortable motherhood!
