Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing yellow mucus droplets in my stool. When i go to the restroom, it feel like i am going to have a bowel movement but nothing but these droplets come out. This has been going on for the past 4 days. I am a health 19 year old female. Should i be concerned?
Dehydration and constipation can be important cause of mucus in stools. Presence of mucus in stool, can also be a sign of bacterial infections, anal fissures, a bowel obstruction, or Crohn’s disease. Adequate hydration, increased fibre in diet can reduce the symptoms.Liquid paraffin syrup can be taken at night to soften stool. In case of infections, blood and mucus can occur in stools.Antibiotics should be administered to treat bacterial infections.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
