What Causes Yellow Vaginal Discharge?

hello i recently came off my period last tuesday. and i went to the toliet yesterday and found a ball of yellowish discharge which had a strong smell to it. i am sexually active but use protection all the time. and everytime i go to the toliet the toliet paper is soaked with discharge what could it be?
