What Causes Yellowish Fluid Discharge From Nose When I Bend Down My Head?

Hi today I woke up and then when I bend down to grab something ,I all the sudden got that feel when you get chlorine in your nose from jumping in a pool , then yellow water started pour out of my nose I stood up and it stopped, so I was brushing my hair like 2 hours later had my head bend upside down brushing it got the same feeling and fluid ran out again stood up and it stopped, what could cause that,,

Hi,

The flow of yellow fluid from the nose on bending down is usually due to a common cause which is fluid from sinuses flowing through their openings in nose. Rare cause is CSF leaking from defect in basal skull bones, usually on one side and is usually clear.

I would advise you to not blow nose to avoid any complication. Get checked by an ENT Surgeon asap to know the cause on clinical examination, nasal endoscopy and tests for fluid. CT scan with MRI of nose, sinuses, base of skull bone will help to know the cause whether sinusitis or otherwise. Once a proper diagnosis has been made then you will be treated as per the cause found and remember the CSF fluid need needs surgery to close the defect.

Hello,

The yellow colored fluid flowing from nose could be CSF leaking. The condition is called CSF rhinorrhea. I suggest you to get CSF tested for beta transferring. CSF contains this substance whereas simple nasal discharge does not have this substance. I suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment and prescription of investigations.
