What Causes Yellowish Tinge In Gray Hair Of An Elderly Person?

I am 55 years old and gray haired. I have noticed my hair turning yellowish. In the crown of my head though there is a dark golden spot in my hair. I am not on any medications, diet hasn t changed much other than I am trying to back off on how much I eat. I have had a little stress lately but this problem started before the stress.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Actually grey or white hairs do not have any color pigment. The yellowness can be due to catching of color from bathing water/ water from swimming pool./ it can be due to air pollution./ smoking can turn hairs & nails yellow.
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
