Hello. Thank you for writing to us

Tanning even after a short lasting sun exposure is known as Immediate pigment darkening/ IPD.
Immediate pigment darkening/ IPD is transitory darkening of the skin and is usually in response to UV A exposure.
IPD usually occurs within minutes after UV A exposure, and lasts less than 2 hours.
The mechanism is a chemical modification of pre-existing melanin.
Measures to protect against IPD include using a broad spectrum sunscreen at least 15-20 minutes before stepping out in the sun.
Sunscreen should be broad spectrum i.e it should have both UV A as well as UV B coverage.
A sunscreen with minimum SPF 30 or more would be suitable.
The sunscreen should be reapplied every 2-3 hours specially when outdoors.

Regards
