What Could A Blue Bump On The Tongue Be?

I have a purple/blue bump at the very back of my tongue. I went to the ENT and he told me it could be a cyst or papilloma that s infected. It looks more like a cyst to me. It doesn t hurt. I do have a metallic taste on the bottom left side of my tongue and my ear is a little irritated. Should I be worried? He gave me amoxicillin, but I m not sure that s going to help. I ve had the bump for 6 days now. I think my left jaw is a little swollen. Nothing hurts though, it s just annoying.

Hello

I think your ent doctor is right and it is likely to be an infected cyst, although i can confirm this only by examining you. please take your antibiotic and gargle with hexidine mouth wash 2-3 times a day. The swelling of the jaw is likely to be an infected lymph node , which will come down with the antibiotic.

Thanks
